What We're All About

New Paragraph

These are the reasons we serve. They are integral to every clinical

decision we make, every treatment plan we build, and every conversation we have with every patient. We chose this work — and this way of doing it — because we believe it leads to real, lasting change.

Science

There is a difference between evidence-based and scientific-based medicine.  Evidence-based medicine requires multiple studies with large groups of people that result in the same or similar repeated outcomes. Evidence-based medicine is wonderful.  It saves lives every day.  It is the basis of the modern medical system which treats illness with medicines that are repeatedly shown to be effective.  Because of evidence-based research, we know a lot about medications, including the potential side effects, medical conditions for which to avoid these medicines, and cross-reactivity which means one medication is similar enough to another the last to avoid it based on the patient's allergy.  Medications are well-studied and well-suited for treatment of the many diseases identified by the modern medical system.

Evidence-based medicine often leaves many questions.  Modern medicine does not have a diagnosis for everything and therefore little frame of reference for subclinical conditions that affect people's lives in profound ways.  There is simply not time for insurance coverage for a deep dive into root causes.  Most providers offer excellent preventative care, naming exercise and the Mediterranean diet with reduced alcohol intake as the standard of health.  They do not, however, have the time to fully explain why.  It is that question that keeps people where they are, because it doesn't seem to be answered.  When a symptom does not lined up with an identified diagnosis within an organ system, providers shrug and use their medical experience to develop a theory.  But usually it stops there.  And the patient continues suffering.

Science-based medicine provides the study of the body's tiniest chemical reactions that occur in the tiniest parts of humans - the cells.  After all, everything within her body is made of cells.  All functions of the body rely on proper interactions between the tiniest components.  Functional medicine provides a framework from which to search for root causes of a wide range of complaints that often remain unanswered by modern medicine.  Chronic fatigue?  Perimenopause?  Depression or anxiety?  Obesity even though you are not eating anything?

Many of the problems we have as humans can be traced back to the function of the cells, proteins and enzymes they make, and the DNA that is unfolded and expressed in the setting of nutrition, stress, and trauma.

Nature

Nature in itself is healing. Numerous studies and simple common sense have shown the  benefits of spending time outdoors. In nature, we are connected with our environment -  With every breath, we are interconnected with our oxygen providers, and our breath in turn provides fuel  for another living thing.

Truly exploring our environment requires time, trust, and presence which happen to be the very requirements for the liberating benefits of meditation.

For centuries, nature has begged us to sift through the wilderness to forage nutrition and medicines. Treatments for nearly every ailment can be found in the time-tested plant-based medicines of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The advent of modern medicine has brought our focus more indoors, in labs and evidence-based medicine that provides documented cures for and prevention of fatal pathogens and disease. Natural medicine does not negate modern medicine. There are cases in which certain life-preserving medications may interact with certain nutrients in high concentrations or specific herbal remedies. It is important for practitioners of all kinds to gain a basic understanding of the medicines their patients are taking and how they may interact. At Envision Psychiatry, we do it all - exploring what works best for each individual, whether it be medication via modern, herbal, Traditional Chinese, nutritional, functional, counseling, or engaging various senses and active nervous system retraining to restructure the brain - or a unique combination tailored just for you.

Collaboration

With the individuals we serve - offering trauma informed, person-centered, and individualized care.  Transformation of these individuals secondarily transforms their significant others, friends, children, neighbors, schools, and giving back to communities

As an offshoot of the care we provide to individuals, this healing extends to families, schools, communities, and regions where we can both make an impact and benefit from others' efforts toward a more comprehensive and integrative model of mental health care

Within the various professional relationships in our clinic - from our medical director to licensed counselors and psychiatrist

With other community providers and natural healers - recognition and appreciation for the diversity of healing approaches toward a common goal of patient wellness and the treatment of disease.  All efforts extend and improve people's  lives in both wellness and illness.

All collaboration begins with mutual respect which flows from an appreciation of diversity -

of thoughts and ideas

of frameworks and designs within healthcare systems

The ultimate freedom to express individual differences as celebrated aspects of who we are.

Hope

There is always hope. Even in the darkest of times. Many of our clients do not see even a glimpse of light when they first come to us. We are here to encourage, inspire, offer a unique perspective. We are not necessarily optimists but realists who are able to see beyond the depression, anxiety, trauma, into what is possible for the future. For our clients, the next days, weeks, and years can be brighter, just as likely as they could remain the same.

We and our brains and bodies are adaptable and capable of change.

Through radical acceptance, we can learn to find a certain level of peace with what was, what is, and what is to come through radical acceptance.

The brain is essentially an extensively high speed computer that has been programmed through genetics and experience. Unlike the old-school belief that the brain is unable to change, research has shown the incredible elasticity of the brain's circuits - its connections are highly adaptable - changeable - through intention, commitment, and most of all - through hope.

We can look to the future and envision a healthier life.

We can find purpose and meaning as

sources of survival, resilience, and hope.

CARE THAT BELONGS HERE

Rooted in Barneveld, WI

Barneveld is a small community with a fierce sense of place. We are proud to call it home — and to offer the kind of integrated psychiatric care that has typically been available only in larger cities, right here in the heart of rural Wisconsin.

We know that geography should not determine the quality of your mental health care. Rural communities face unique pressures — agricultural cycles, economic uncertainty, the particular weight of isolation — and they deserve providers who understand that context, not just providers who happen to be nearby.

For patients who cannot reach us in person, we offer telehealth appointments throughout Wisconsin — same team, same unhurried approach, same commitment to finding root causes and building real solutions. Distance is not a barrier to good care.
